Houston finished 24–31 overall and 7–23 in Big 12 play, landing last in the league and missing the conference tournament after consecutive sub-.500 Big 12 springs. Will Davis (tenure since 2026) now leads the Houston NCAA Division I Cougars following Todd Whitting’s departure at season’s end. Public notes marked a 498-win Whitting era closing with the rebuild unfinished. Families recruiting into a 52-player 2027 roster should treat escaping the Big 12 cellar as the immediate bar.
