McLennan has won at least 43 games and gone 23–9 in NTJCAC play in each of the last three seasons, including 46–13 in 2026, James Leverton's first spring in Waco. On the Baseball Forward podcast, Leverton said the Highlanders want "junkyard dogs that are willing to eat last," and that the staff asks every recruit about his end goal in baseball, hoping to hear "I want to play in the big leagues." Families weighing a 41-player 2027 roster should expect pitching to lead the next class, with eight arms out of eligibility.
