UMBC climbed to 29–24 overall and 15–9 in America East play, earning the No. 2 tournament seed before a 1–2 AE Championship run—beating UMass Lowell, then falling twice to Maine. Dave Gage now leads the Baltimore NCAA Division I Retrievers after Liam Bowen’s June 2026 departure. The win total marked a sharp rebound from 18–28 a year earlier. Families weighing a 32-player 2027 roster should treat another top-two America East finish—and a deeper May run—as the near-term bar.
