Saint Mary's turned a fifth-place WCC regular season into a conference tournament title and an NCAA Regional trip in 2026, finishing 36–27 for a third straight season of at least 34 wins under Eric Valenzuela. On the Baseball Forward podcast, Daniel Costanza, then the recruiting coordinator and now associate head coach, said the staff tries to build from within, recruiting California heavily at the high school level, often all-conference players from winning programs, and supplementing with junior college players. Families weighing a 52-player roster in Moraga should expect few openings, two each on the mound and in the infield.
