Getting Started

What is Baseball Forward Recruiting?

Baseball Forward Recruiting helps players and families navigate college baseball recruiting with more clarity and less guesswork. Become a Prospect List Member to join the list shared with college programs and unlock the full database and tools, and choose the level of support that makes sense for your family — from a one-time strategy plan to full mentorship with direct coach introductions from Ross Hawley.

What are my options?

Prospect List Membership ($14.99/mo or $149/yr) includes: full access to the college database, search, and coach contact information; the favorites tracker, recruiting guides, and templates; inclusion in the Prospect List shared with college programs; and the member community (monthly Zooms, open Q&A, guest coaches, newsletter).

For more personalized recruiting help, we offer one-time plans:
  • Prospect List Premium ($1,449) — everything in Membership plus a personalized target list with direct introductions, 1:1 access to Ross, a mapped-out recruiting timeline, and the Game Plan page
  • Prospect List Mentorship ($2,849) — an all-encompassing advisory relationship covering every stop of your college career, including everything in Premium plus lifetime 1:1 access to Ross Hawley and unlimited school introductions
Both one-time plans include all membership benefits — your membership billing is canceled automatically when you purchase one.

How do I get started?

Start by becoming a Prospect List Member ($14.99/mo or $149/yr). Complete your player profile and you will automatically be included in the Prospect List shared with college programs. From there, you can explore the full database, save favorite schools, and decide whether you want additional guidance through one of our one-time recruiting plans. If you want a more personalized path, choose Prospect List Premium or Prospect List Mentorship.

Who should create the account, the student or the parent?

The student-athlete should create the account. Ross works directly with the player, so the recruiting plan and communication should live on the student account.

If a parent or guardian is paying, the student can log in and work with the parent or guardian to complete the payment.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes. You can start with Prospect List Membership and purchase Prospect List Premium or Prospect List Mentorship later if you want direct strategy, school-fit guidance, coach introductions, or ongoing mentorship. Both one-time plans include all membership benefits, and your membership billing is canceled automatically when you upgrade.

Who is this for?

Baseball Forward Recruiting is built for players and families who want a clearer path through college baseball recruiting. It can help high school players, JUCO players, transfer-path players, and parents who want a better understanding of where a player fits and how to move forward.

How Baseball Forward Works

Who is Ross Hawley and how involved is he personally?

Ross Hawley is a former professional player and the founder of Baseball Forward. He is directly involved in the recruiting guidance process, especially on paid plans that include consultation, school-fit strategy, coach introductions, and mentorship. Families are not just buying access to a tool — they are getting guidance from someone who has lived the game and understands how the recruiting process actually works.

How does the 1-on-1 consultation work?

The 1-on-1 consultation is a direct strategy conversation with Ross Hawley. It is designed to help families understand where a player may fit, what the next recruiting steps should be, which schools or levels make the most sense, and how to approach communication more effectively.

How is this different from just emailing coaches myself?

You can absolutely email coaches yourself — and players should learn how to do that well. Baseball Forward helps you do it with more clarity and a better plan.

The difference is that we help you:
  • Identify schools that actually fit
  • Avoid wasting time on poor-fit programs
  • Understand where you realistically belong
  • Communicate more strategically
  • Get direct introductions through Ross on qualifying plans
It is not just about sending more emails. It is about reaching the right schools with a better message and a clearer recruiting strategy.

How do you determine school fit?

We look at school fit through the lens of the full recruiting picture — not just one metric. That includes factors like playing level, physical tools, development path, academics, geography, budget, roster opportunity, and the kind of college experience the player wants.

The goal is not to chase the biggest name. The goal is to identify schools where there is a realistic fit and a better chance to build meaningful recruiting conversations.

Coach Introductions & School Fit

What are coach introductions and how do they work?

Coach introductions are direct outreach from Ross Hawley to schools on a player’s fit list that are included in qualifying plans.

That does not guarantee a response, offer, roster spot, or scholarship. What it does mean is that the player is being presented with more context and credibility than a cold email alone. It is one part of a stronger overall recruiting process.

Is Baseball Forward helpful if I don’t know what level I fit?

Yes — that is one of the biggest reasons families use Baseball Forward.

A lot of players are not sure whether they fit at the Division I, Division II, Division III, JUCO, or NAIA level. We help bring clarity to that process so families can stop guessing and start focusing on the schools and paths that make the most sense.

What divisions and levels do you work with?

We help families think through opportunities across all levels of college baseball, including: The right fit is not always the highest level. It is the level and school where the player has the best opportunity to develop, contribute, and thrive.

Is this for high school players only, or also JUCO players and transfers?

Baseball Forward is helpful for high school players, JUCO players, and families navigating transfer or next-step decisions.

Recruiting paths are not always linear. Some players go high school to 4-year, some go high school to JUCO, and some need help repositioning later. Our guidance is built to support players across those different paths.

Recruiting Process Questions

Does Baseball Forward guarantee I will get recruited or earn a scholarship?

No. Baseball Forward does not guarantee recruitment, scholarship offers, roster spots, or commitments.

What we do provide is better clarity, better-fit school targeting, stronger communication strategy, and direct support through the recruiting process. Recruiting outcomes depend on many factors, including talent, timing, development, academics, roster needs, and coach interest.

When should a player start the recruiting process?

The earlier a family can bring structure and clarity to the process, the better. That does not mean every player needs to rush, but it does mean it helps to start understanding options, fit, and communication strategy before the pressure really ramps up.

Every player’s timeline is different. The key is to avoid waiting until confusion turns into panic. Recruiting 101, Episode 1 walks through the timeline step by step.

What if coaches don’t respond right away?

That is normal. Recruiting is rarely a one-message process. Coaches are managing roster needs, timing, budgets, staff responsibilities, and hundreds of messages.

A lack of immediate response does not always mean a lack of interest. It usually means players need a better follow-up plan, better school targeting, stronger timing, or continued development. That is exactly where good strategy matters.

Parent Questions

Can a parent or guardian pay without creating a separate account?

Yes. The best setup is for the student-athlete to own the account. Once the player is logged in, they can work with the parent or guardian to complete the payment.

Is Baseball Forward helpful for parents who don’t understand the recruiting process?

Absolutely. A big part of what we do is help families make sense of a process that can feel confusing, overwhelming, and time-sensitive.

Parents often know their son needs a plan, but they are not sure where to start, what level is realistic, when to reach out, or how to judge opportunities. Baseball Forward helps bring structure, clarity, and experienced guidance to those decisions.

How do I know if my son is ready to reach out to coaches?

A player is usually ready to reach out once he has enough clarity to present himself well — meaning he has a solid profile, some understanding of where he may fit, and a more intentional plan for communication.

The question is not just “Is he old enough?” The better question is “Is he prepared to communicate with the right schools in the right way?”

How is Baseball Forward different from other recruiting services?

Baseball Forward is built around clarity, fit, and real guidance.

We are not just giving families a list of schools and telling them to figure it out. We help players understand where they fit, identify better opportunities, communicate more effectively, and — on qualifying plans — get direct introductions from Ross Hawley.

Our goal is to help families make better recruiting decisions with less guesswork.

Can I tell other families about Baseball Forward?

Absolutely. We want more players and families to have access to better recruiting guidance, clearer information, and more honest support. If you know another family who feels overwhelmed by the recruiting process, send them our way.
